Richmond - City Home Print E-mail

Richmond, Virginia, has an extensive and fascinating past. In 1775, Patrick Henry made his famous “Give me liberty or give me death” speech here. And during the Civil War, the city was named the Capital of the Confederacy. Today museums, monuments, and battlefields commemorate Richmond's nearly 400-year history.

While history still helps shape this city, Richmond isn’t a community living in the past. Home to Fortune 500 corporations and small companies alike, it boasts a thriving business district that is very much in the present. Richmond was named 14th (out of 60) as one of America’s top large metro areas for doing business by Inc. magazine. Not only has Forbes ranked Virginia as first among the 50 states in the “Best States for Business” category, but Richmond was also cited by Forbes as the sixth best city in the nation to get a job. Expansion Management Magazine listed Richmond as “One of America’s 50 Hottest Cities” for business expansions and relocations.

Richmond’s location in the heart of the Mid-Atlantic region provides businesses with a strategic geographic midpoint between Boston and Atlanta. Being centrally located in Virginia on the falls of the James River, Richmond is also just a two-hour drive from the mountains, the beach, and the nation’s capital.

While offering a unique and surprising mix of cultural sophistication and legendary Southern charm, Richmond also boasts an excellent quality of life. From countless fine-dining restaurants to outdoor parks and trails right next to downtown, to fine arts, theater and architecture, culture is plentiful here. A vibrant business climate and countless entertainment options make this Virginia capital a great place to call home.
