Denver is dedicated to enhancing the entrepreneurial climate of the city and providing a place where businesses can prosper. To move towards this vision, it is employing a comprehensive strategy that incorporates development of human capital, support of existing businesses, and identification of strategic industries.

With help from the Denver Office of Economic Development (www.milehigh.com), Denver provides the support to help both the business sector and the labor force transition successfully into the new economy. Examples of city initiatives include:

Metro Denver Economic Development Corporation (Metro Denver EDC)
The Metro Denver EDC is a partnership of leading businesses and economic development organizations representing the seven-county Metro Denver region and two-county Northern Colorado area. As the nation’s first and only truly regional economic development entity, the Metro Denver EDC is comprised of nearly 200 corporations and over 60 cities, counties, and economic development agencies. An affiliate of the Denver Metro Chamber of Commerce, the Metro Denver EDC was formed with the mission of creating 100,000 new jobs for the metro area over a five-year period. To accomplish this goal, the organization raised $13.3 million. Since 1987, the Metro Denver EDC, in its various forms, has played an active role in all of the largest economic development projects in the region. Throughout this period, over 300,000 jobs were created or maintained in the Metro Denver area.
