The Odyssey School
The Odyssey School is a K-8 Expeditionary Learning (EL) Charter School. Odyssey, one of the leading charter schools in the DPS District and one of the most successful EL schools in the country, was founded through the efforts of a group of NE Denver families and teachers who wanted to create a school that had as cornerstones significant family involvement, socioeconomic, racial and ethnic diversity, character development and academic rigor within a model that fostered children’s innate curiosity and desire to learn.

Since its founding in 1998, the Odyssey community has been housed in four locations, including in trailers on the runways of the old Stapleton airport. Now Odyssey is permanently housed in a DPS building within the Stapleton community. We have been successful in providing a quality education to our diverse student body. A recent report from the Colorado Children’s Campaign indicated that Odyssey was ranked in the top 2% of Colorado elementary schools on achievement gains in math, reading and writing, while our middle school ranked in the top 8%. In renewing our charter last year, DPS reported “the students at Odyssey are performing exceptionally well.”

The Odyssey School offers full day Kindergarten thru 8th grade curriculums. We believe in small, multi-age classrooms with low teacher/student ratios. Parents and the community are an incredibly important part of The Odyssey School. This support is necessary and appreciated (many parent volunteers stay on after their own kids graduate!). The schools commitment to creating life long learners is an amazing success story that shines as a beacon of success in Denver.
