RTD FasTracks Program
RTD plans to expand the regional transit system through the FasTracks program. This plan includes building several new transit lines throughout the Denver region while redeveloping Denver Union Station as the hub of the transit system. FasTracks includes 119 miles of new light Rail and commuter rail, 18 miles of bus rapid transit, 57 new transit stations, 21,213 parking spaces and enhanced bus service.  The program is scheduled to be complete by 2017 and will include a Downtown transit circulator shuttle that is being studied as part of the Downtown Multi-Modal Access Plan (DMAP).

The Transportation Expansion (T-REX) Project has become a national model of collaboration for light rail and highway expansion projects. Completed on time and on budget in 2006, T-REX built 19 miles of new light rail, expanded 17 miles of highway along I-25 and I-225, built new roadway and pedestrian bridges, and enhanced pedestrian connections.  T-REX is a success story of how the Denver metro area is using a multi-modal approach to address some of the traffic problems. The multi-agency cooperation between the Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT), Regional Transportation District (RTD), Federal Highway Administration (FHWA), Federal Transit Administration (FTA) and local jurisdictions serves as an effective and efficient example of partnership.
