Kansas City - Development |
|

|
For almost one hundred years, Kansas City suppressed its heritage as a river city. But now, with the development of the Richard L. Berkley Riverfront Park, new residential additions might help revive the river city image. Of course, the riverfront is just one of the sections of town being restored. The city supports development in a variety of ways and at a number of locations.
The Kansas City Neighborhood Alliance
The KCNA is a non-profit corporation serving metropolitan Kansas City neighborhoods and community stakeholders through affordable housing production, financial education, and homeownership training; neighborhood leadership development; and targeted community revitalization.
The Beacon Hill Redevelopment Partnership
This innovative approach to community redevelopment focuses on the devastated historic African-American residential community. It aims to reverse a 40-year trend of declining property values caused by a failed urban renewal plan.
The South Roundtop Neighborhood
The area is a part of the Department of Housing and Community Development's Model Block Program Initiative. This program is designed to assist Kansas City communities in maintaining and upgrading the beauty of their homes and neighborhoods. Some programs included in the Model Block Initiative are the home improvement rebate program, a home weatherization program, a minor home repair program, and a rehabilitative loan program.
