Richmond - Neighborhood Development Print E-mail

To keep these as well as Richmond’s many other neighborhoods strong, the city supports a number of neighborhood development programs including:

Neighborhoods in Bloom
NiB was adopted by the city council in 1999 and was designed as an aggressive neighborhood investment partnership facilitating revitalization in six of the city’s most blighted neighborhoods.  By focusing multiple resources in these six neighborhoods, the NiB program was designed to achieve greater impact in addressing housing and neighborhood conditions.

CAPS (Community Assisted Public Safety)
Richmond neighborhood “problem spots” are being eliminated thanks to the determination of citizens and city officials with CAPS. Since the program began in 2000, dozens of properties – from illegal nightclubs to unsafe rooming houses to dilapidated homes – have been shut down, demolished, or sold for delinquent taxes.

Venture Richmond
As a result of the powerhouse combination of its four predecessor organizations (Richmond
Renaissance, CityCelebrations, River District Alliance and Richmond Riverfront Corporation), Venture Richmond engages both business and community leaders in partnering with the City of Richmond to enhance community vitality, through Economic Development, marketing, promotion, advocacy and events.
