To ensure that San José’s labor force is prepared to meet the challenges of the new economy, the Silicon Valley Workforce Investment Network (SVWIN) offers employment support and training services to more than 140,000 local residents at three One-Stop Career Centers. These centers have helped more than 1,200 of the 5,000-plus enrolled clients find jobs in the tight Silicon Valley job market. SVWIN also provides services to the business community including employee recruitment and interviewing assistance, customized and on-the-job training, downsizing planning and outplacement assistance, training for entrepreneurs and small businesses, and workshops on subjects such as IRS and California business taxation rules and procedures, and workers compensation laws.
