Transportation

San José’s Norman Y. Mineta San Jose International Airport is critical to the success of the region’s large corporations and small businesses trying to compete in the global economy. The Airport, which serves local and regional leisure travelers as well as Silicon Valley businesses, is currently undergoing vast improvements including terminal construction, access improvements, parking garages and airfield upgrades. These improvements represent the largest public works project in San José’s history and are designed to make the Airport a world-class facility with state-of-the-art passenger amenities and a technologically advanced security system. Recognizing the broad regional impact of the airport, the city solicited feedback on its improvement plans from the area’s key stakeholders including neighborhood groups, the San José/Silicon Valley Chamber of Commerce, and the Silicon Valley Manufacturing Group. By incorporating the input and expertise of these regional partners, the city believes airport improvements will maximize the Airport’s ability to benefit the local businesses that drive the regional economy as well as being the region’s first choice for air transportation services.
