San José - Strategies Print E-mail

San José considers itself “the Capital of Silicon Valley.” To prepare itself for the new economy and ensure that San José/Silicon Valley maintains its competitive edge, the City has developed a formal long-term economic strategy to guide policies, priorities and investments over the next five years. San José’s long-term vision outlines 15 strategic priorities in areas including the airport, university relationships, global linkages, land use, and its downtown creative center.

Not just a document of ideas, the City’s economic strategy spells out specific tactics around these priorities to achieve real goals and create a livable community for all its residents. Developed through discussions with the area’s largest employers, San José’s strategy for achieving its economic goals includes creating and communicating a set of six unique city attributes: Global Gateway, Creative Community, Entrepreneurial Environment, Tech-Savvy City, Place of Opportunity, and America’s Most Livable Big City.
