St. Louis - Tourism Print E-mail

With so many things to see and do in St. Louis, you’ll probably run out of time before you run out of options. The St. Louis Convention & Visitors Commission (CVC) is dedicated to promoting the St. Louis region as an ideal convention and meeting site, as well as a leisure travel destination.

From professional sporting events to cultural organizations to the nightlife in St. Louis, the fun doesn’t stop. Many of St. Louis’ cultural organizations cost nothing to visit and yet continue to attract national recognition.

People here are just as passionate about the top-ranked St. Louis Science Center (free to visit) as they are about the St. Louis Cardinals baseball team. Our devotion to the Cardinals, the St. Louis Blues, the St. Louis Rams, and seven other professional sports teams even earned St. Louis the title of “Best Sports City” in America by The Sporting News.

Transportation

The convenience of getting around St. Louis makes visiting easy. Metrolink is a light rail transit system connecting Lambert-St. Louis International Airport and Shrewsbury, MO with Scott Air Force Base (near Shiloh, IL) through downtown.  The two lines make 37 stops and serve as a favorable option to get to the ballpark, the Delmar Loop, Lambert Airport, and more. Ridership during each weekday is 67,684 people (FY 2007).

For those who prefer to drive, 20 minutes is the most it takes to get nearly anywhere in St. Louis. When compared to other large metropolitan areas, St. Louis is missing hassle and heavy congestion.

Nightlife

Whether you like to enjoy your libation while listening to Jazz at the Bistro or you prefer to cover several dance clubs in one night, the nightlife here will do anything but put you to sleep. After the sun sets, the restored, nine-block, nineteenth century area at Laclede’s Landing features unique restaurants and bars, while live music and horse-drawn carriages complete the atmosphere. Dive bars, sports bars, breweries, karaoke bars, wine bars and even a chocolate bar are just a few of the nightlife options to choose from. Whatever you’re in the mood for, we have a place sure to satisfy.
