Globalization, innovations in technology, development of public/private partnerships, the city’s location as an anchor of Florida’s high tech corridor, oversight of city development as it relates to building livable communities, stewardship of the environment and municipal approaches in social issues are all strategies employed in St. Petersburg’s new economy. Because of its foresight, vision and recent emergence, St. Petersburg was selected to host the first ever international Creative Cities Conference. There is currently well in excess of $1 billion in private investment unfolding in St. Petersburg.
