Tacoma-Pierce County - Tourism Print E-mail

From museums to mountains, Pierce County has superb visitor attractions. Tacoma's vibrant theater district includes two historic theaters, the Pantages and Rialto, as well as a state of the art venue, the Theatre on the Square. Located in the heart of downtown, the theater district is the last stop on the Tacoma Link Light Rail. The area is also home to the Broadway Center for the Performing Arts, the Dance Theatre Northwest, and the Tacoma Musical Playhouse.

The City of Destiny offers fresh fruit and vegetables during the Tacoma Farmers Market, open every Thursday from June to October. The market is located in downtown Tacoma, in the Theatre District. While strolling through the vast array of fresh food, toe-tapping music plays at different areas throughout the market. Tables of aromatic artisan breads and a wide-variety of handmade gifts are available for people to take home for the family to enjoy.

The city's incredible arts festivals include Wintergrass, Tacoma's annual three-day celebration of bluegrass music held every February. All-night concerts, jam sessions, and the world's best bluegrass musicians make it a great weekend.

Tacoma's museum district, which features the Museum of Glass, Tacoma Art Museum, and Washington State History Museum, is surrounded by public art. Union Station, a Victorian train station turned federal courthouse, houses beautiful Chihuly art in its windows. Even the Tacoma Link light rail stop is surrounded with beautiful urban artwork.
