Workforce Attraction Steers Prospective Business to Tulsa
Economic development proposals are no longer limited to information on available properties, incentives and capital assets, but demand specifics on the available talent pool, the pipeline of future workforce and the lifestyle amenities that support today’s knowledge workers.

A community-based-jobs Web site ChooseTulsaJobs.com, scheduled to launch in 2008, has initiated three industry-specific websites to market area job opportunities in the aerospace, energy and health care industries. Companies and organizations including American Airlines, Spirit Aerosystems, NORDAM, Williams, ONEOK, the City of Tulsa, The Rowland Group, Limco Airepair, Helicomb and Tulsa Winch have a vested interest in this site due to the interest of hiring an educated and skilled workforce to grow their productions output. The ChooseTulsaJobs.com specialty sites will have the capability to send job opening information to interested job seekers on a daily basis.

Tulsa’s Young Professionals
The mission of the Tulsa’s Young Professionals (TYPros) group is to attract and retain young talent in the Tulsa metro region while also establishing Tulsa’s next generation of business and community leaders. Talented, young professionals are the nation’s hottest commodity for the next decade, and Tulsa is prepared to generate a new pool of talent to fill the demand in workforce.

A group of more than 4,100 young professionals have multiple opportunities for getting involved in the community to make a difference in the future of Tulsa. TYPros developed an outlet for involvement through a number of work crews that are involved in efforts such as marketing Tulsa, leadership, government relations, diversity, special events, colleges and university communications and business development.

InternTulsa.com—HIRE Education
The Tulsa’s Young Professional group launched a proactive solution to Tulsa’s workforce shortage with the introduction of InternTulsa.com. An internship resource guide and online posting opportunities are essential tools needed to connect a talented college graduate with Tulsa area companies and interested industries. Research shows the more involved a college student is within a community prior to graduation, the more likely he or she will remain in the community post-graduation. An internship program has the potential to keep a talent pool from local universities in the Tulsa region. Some of the local higher education establishments include The University of Tulsa, Oklahoma State University-Tulsa and Center for Health Sciences, University of Oklahoma-Tulsa, Northeastern State University-Broken Arrow, Rogers State University and Tulsa Community College to name a few.
